68. Day 5 of 365 Challenge

Well it's not been the best of days or even the bets of weeks has it, not only have we lost two legends but I have also lost an old friend from my Harley days. So I have to say RIP to Sean Connery the one and only James Bond, also RIP to Nobby Stiles 1966 world cup winner with England who will ever forget that toothless smile and out right aggression. And a huge RIP to Royston Scot who passed away two days ago a great bloke and fabulous husband and father.

With the impending second lock-down coming just before Christmas and the recent deaths it hasn't been the best of years has it?? I just hope all this confusion does not stop Lorni getting home at the end of next month.

On to the  daily picture....

I have always found landscapes difficult almost impossible to convey the scale in a photo but I keep trying LOL

67. Day 4 of 365 challenge and still got a sore mouth.

It's been 4 days since my visit tot he dentist where they cut my gums open to check to see if my implant was broken or not and it is still very sore today, Fingers crossed by Tuesday when I have to go back and have the stitched taken out it will be more settled.

The upstairs bathroom is now nearing completion it looks really good compared to what was there and the guys have had to work hard just to make it look reasonable. There is not one straight or vertical wall in the place which makes it very difficult to use very square tiles!!!

This was taken very early this morning while the sin was still rising I like the contrast between the abandoned cafes white walls and the dark surroundings. All photos are taken on my Canon 5D mark III and until next month fitted with the Tamron F2.8 24-70 lens

66. Day 3 of 365 Challenge

Just to prove you don't always have to have an expensive DSLR with you at all times here is a photo I took this morning with my phone while trying to use the rules of composition and light.

Taken on iPhone XR

I took this early in the morning during the so called "Golden Hour" I have an horizon line at third of the way up and the road is a leading line on the right hand third of the photo do you think this makes this an "interesting" image or not..I'm not so sure.

65. 365 Challenger Day2.

I have no idea how difficult this is going to be but I will persevere. I passed my diploma in photography a couple of years ago but many years back in the days of film photography I completed a college course so I should know what I am doing but! as with most things in life I have strong views on the supposed rules of photography. Let's start with the most common one.

1. Rule of thirds

This states that objects such as the horizon should be a  third of the way down or two thirds and other objects of interest should be placed where the the gird of thirds lines..same as the noughts and crosses grid... intersect as this is deemed to be the most agreeable view. I don't agree most of the photos that I place on facebook that have a high "like" count are usually the ones where the subject is on the centre of the photo???

2. The "Golden Hour"

This is supposed to be the best time to take landscape photo's? again I much prefer the blues of later in the day rather than the "warm glow" of early morning or late afternoon to me those photos always seem so false, and again the likes I get on Facebook or usually for the photos taken in the middle of the day.

These rules I believe were made probably centuries ago and probably need updating..i will now get hate mail for that but I don't care LOL

Photo taken with a Canon5D mkIII with a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 lens set to F5.0 100ms @40mm iso-100

Just to prove that you can take a photo of just about anything and make it interesting, This stone wall is made up of various sizes of stone of subtle different shades of colour and it presents an interesting pattern.

64. 5 months later and one photo a day for year challenge (Photo-1)

I haven't put much on here recently as to be honest I haven't had much to write about, or I should say I haven't had much time to write anything. So Lorni will be home in 4 weeks and I have to admit it's been a long 5 months till now, there have been times when I just wanted to get int he car and come home but I survived. I have dealt with the leaks and the holes in the ceiling. I have replaced the hot water system and the upstairs air con and at the moment I am halfway through replacing the  upstairs bathroom when that is completed the roof is being replaced next followed by the downstairs bathroom and the front of the house, that will have to do till next year.

On top of trying to sort all this out and fending for myself in a strange alien Country I have also been in a diet I made myself two promises when Lorni left and that was to lose 3 stone and try and learn some of this language both are ongoing...!

I haven't done too bad on the weight front

I have been exercising by walking the dogs 12 km a day and I bought an exercise bike and a weight bench which has helped no end. I have also enrolled in a photographic challenge which is a photo a day for a year so.......

Photo 1 of 365 Willow asleep.

This is something more to keep my mind off things and to give me one more thing to achieve, something that is possible for me to do even during these strange times that we now find ourselves living through.

82. Reflections on Benidorm

Lorni and I have now been in Spain for nearly three and a half years and we haven't had any time together  for ages and ages probably si...
